John Wight
Pointing out harmful effects of imperialism and hypocrisy.
John Wight. He can’t handle success. He’s so afraid of success that he writes about hypocrisy. Tells his audience they’re all a bunch of imperialist jerks. Now he’s happy. If he wrote about how to be successful he’d have hundreds of thousands of followers. Instead, he has a little over two thousand.
It’s hard to get a reader if they don’t feel good about themselves after reading your story. I don’t feel good reading his stories because he tells me, correctly so, I’m part of the problem. But I feel less alone. Not all of us want things to be the way they are.
He’s written a book about boxing. How can a guy who writes against imperialism, which often conducts its business behind the barrel of a gun, write about a sport where people end up brain dead or just all dead. Well, it’s complicated. Life is complicated. The difference between boxing and imperialism is that boxing has rules which make it a fair fight.
Imperialism is about fighting dirty. It would be an oxymoron to say “fair imperialism”
Here’s a story I read today that I really enjoyed.
Some Israelis would vociferously disagree that Israel is a Zionist settler colonial project. That it’s the acme of injustice. Well, sorry, there are two classes of citizens. Those who are born with an Israel passport, and rights, and those who aren’t. It’s a two class society. The laws say so. No ifs, ands or buts. It is not a two class society here in the U.S. or in England. Everyone born within our borders have the same legal rights.
So why are weapons used to protect the shipping lanes and not a collection of second hand citizens getting bombed to death?
